Everything Changes By: Felicia Tabby (f_tabby@hotmail.com) "Heya toonsters! I'm Buster Bunny." "And I'm Babs Bunny." "And we're not related." "CUT! CUT!" screamed the odd willowy man in the strange suit. The nostrils of his large, pointy nose flared up and his beady, black eyes bugged out more than usual as he shrieked his order. He pulled at the red tufts of hair the peeked out from under his peculiarly shaped hat in frustration while everyone within a thirty foot radius cringed at the sound of his girlish screeching. Needless to say, no one liked him much. But the chair he sat in said Director' on it, so everyone had to stop and listen to him nonetheless. "Buster, what was that?" he demanded of the blue toon rabbit. "We've gone over this line a million times! The words are No relation'. How hard is that to remember?" He got up and started pacing, rubbing his temples as he went. "You're starting to sound like those blasted Warners for crying out loud!" "Why should we have to say it anyway?' Buster wanted to know. "Yeah," Babs agreed. "You'd think our viewers would have gotten the picture by now. I think it's time we did some new things this season--made some changes." Some of the cast members off set joined in, voicing their agreement and everyone started talking at once, relaying their great new ideas for the new episodes to everyone else. The scanty director just rubbed his temples harder, disregarding all that was said like they were matters of minute importance. "Oooh, I have such a migraine." he whimpered. "I need an Aspirin. AND WHERE'S MY COFFEE??? I ASKED FOR IT TEN MINUTES AGO!!!" The people around him immediately scrambled to fulfill his orders. After all, he did sit in the director's chair and was payed more than any of them to do it. "But don't you think it would be good for the show to try some different things?" Buster asked as the director washed down his Aspirin with his newly received coffee. "Oh, I don't care." the director replied tiredly as he slumped in his chair, covering his eyes as if it hurt to use them. "If you really must insist on doing this. Come up with some ideas and we'll go over them with the writers tomorrow." The toons responded with happy cheers and grins before going off and discussing each other's ideas among themselves. The director slumped lower, trying to block out the toons chattering over the roar of his aching head. He began to wonder if he had missed his calling and should have become a world famous fashion designer like his mother had always wanted. But then again, she had always wished he had been a girl too....... "Sir, I think you should read this." said a young lady with short brown hair. The director shortly recognized her as the one who joined their crew about two moths ago as she held out an envelope to him. However, the exact duty of the woman still remained a mystery to him unless she was being payed to flirt with Craig the camera guy. The weary director took the letter from her and read it silently to himself. "Well, I sink zat ve should ave less of zee bonnies zis seazon." Fifi stated, receiving hearty agreements from many cast members and immediate outbursts from the two rabbits. "I've got some bad news." the director said above the clatter of the debate. "There isn't going to be a next season." The room fell silent and all eyes were on him. "What do you mean?" Buster asked. The lanky, strangely dressed director sighed. "Tiny Toon Adventures has just been canceled." "I can't believe it! I just can't believe it!" Buster exclaimed as he and Babs arrived at Acme Looniversity. The blue bunny was pacing the floor in front of Bugs Bunny's desk. "Me neither." Babs said as she sat on the large desk. "We were doing so well. What happened?" "Well, dem's da breaks kid." Bugs Bunny counciled as he leaned idly on the other side of the desk. "It happens to everyone sooner or later. How are the other's handling it?" "MY LIFE IS OVER!!!!" Plucky cried in anguish as he burst through the door. He stomped up to Buster and grabbed the front of his red shirt. "Look at me! I'm a jobless duck! I have lost purpose in life! My reason for living! SOMEONE JUST SHOOT ME NOW!!!!" He fell to his knees and broke down into pitiful sobs. "Better than expected." Buster said casually. "But what about Acme Loo Bugs?" Babs asked. "School starts in only a few days. What will happen then?" Bugs Bunny's face was sullen as he moved from his desk to the window. He gazed outside with his hands clasped behind his back for a moment before speaking. "There are going to be some changes." "What kind of changes?" Buster asked as a small panic rose up inside him. "Well." Bugs began, choosing his words carefully. "Without Tiny Toon Adventures, there's just no reason to keep Acme Looniversity the way it is. Without the show, we have been forced to change the curriculum and lot of the other things we do here. As the year goes on, we will begin teaching a wider range of classes with a new faculty and new students." "That's not so bad." Plucky said from his place on the floor. "Wait a minute." Buster interjected. "I don't think you've told us the whole story." Only then did Bugs turn around and look at him. "You're talking about non-toon classes, aren't you? Our new teachers aren't going to be like you, are they?" "Buster, what are you talking about?" Babs asked as Bugs looked guiltily at the floor. "I'm talking about these aren't going to be just little changes." Buster replied more heatedly. " They're going to turn Acme Looniversity into a regular high school!" "I take that back." Plucky cut in. "We're DOOMED!" "I'm sorry kids." Bugs shook his head ruefully. "But there's nothing I can do about it." "We're going to have to go to a normal school??" Babs asked in wide- eyed horror. "With normal people learning normal things?" She clutched her chest as if her heart were about to burst. "Oh, I don't think I can handle it. JUST KILL ME TOO!!!" Bugs rolled his eyes. "Cut the melodrama, it's won't be that bad. Besides, it's going to take some time for all these changes to take place. You kids might be out of school before the new system is fully finished. "So it will pretty much be the same when we go back to school?" Babs asked. Bugs shrugged. "Besides a few new students, yeah. For now anyway." News of the new changes happening at Acme Loo spread like a wildfire over Acme Acres. By the time the first day of school had rolled around, everyone knew about the new plans for a more normal' high school and about the new students who would be arriving that day. And frankly, not too many were pleased about it. "Like, the whole thing totally stinks." Shirley confided to Babs and Fifi that morning. The three were sitting on the Looniversity steps, waiting for school to begin. "All those bad vibes and junk are, like, throwing off my cosmic center." "Wee." Fifi agreed as she watched a melancholy Calamity Coyote walk up the steps past her. "Everyone ez, ow do you say, down in ze dumpster." Babs nodded darkly. "Hey, cheer up girls. It won't be so bad." Buster said as he came up with Hampton and Plucky in tow. "We've gotten through harder times than this. We're the Tiny Toons, remember? We may be out of action but we still have fans out there who love us and to them, we'll never be gone. And who knows, maybe this might be the new changes we've been looking for all along." Buster's small speech momentarily placed a hopeful smile on his friend's faces. But they quickly vanished again as an old, yellow school bus noisily pulled up and parked sloppily in front of the school. "That must be the new students." Hampton observed. The six toons stared at the silent bus. "Take a good look." Montana Max said as he seemed to suddenly appear from behind them. "These mark the beginning of our end." For once, no one argued with his logic. They knew there was truth hiding in those words. The new students that would be invading their school signaled that their own way of life was coming to an end. And by accepting these, meant they were stepping aside to make room for the rest of the changes to come. "Well, where are they?" Plucky demanded after a few minutes had passed and still no activity was seen in or around the bus. "Like, maybe we should go up and meet them." Shirley suggested. The six toons stayed in a tight group as they inched their way toward the inert bus while Montana Max remained dejectedly behind. The toons stopped when they neared the idle bus but were still a safe distance away from it. "So, who's going in?" Buster asked. He turned to his friends who were all looking expectantly at him. "Oh thanks a lot guys." Buster bravely stepped up to the bus alone. The door folded open with a hiss and a dirty mist floated out of the dark vehicle, giving a sense of foreboding to the setting. Buster breathed in deep as he placed his foot on the first step. His heart raced faster as he climbed into the bus. But he had no sooner reached the top of the three stairs when a toon girl suddenly jumped in front of him. "Stop right there!" she told him, holding out her paws to keep him from advancing. "Not one more step." Her voice diminished slightly as if she were warning him of some secret trap he was about to step into. Buster studied the urgent toon before him. She was a yellow cat that stood a bit shorter than him. She wore a sea green shirt and sneakers with purple shorts. Her short, red hair was pulled up into a pony tail with a purple hair tie. But the main feature Buster noticed was that she had one green eye and one blue. Buster was about to ask what she was talking about when she turned her head to the side and called down the isle. "Did you find it yet?" Now Buster was even more confused. As far as he could see, not one other toon was anywhere in the entire bus. It looked completely empty. But his assumption was soon proven wrong when a number of toon heads of different sizes, shapes, and colors poked out from various places behind the twin rows of seats. "Nope, sorry Trude." the girl's voice sounded near the back. "Keep looking." the yellow cat with the red hair ordered. The others groaned as they disappeared behind the seats again. But one toon with brownish red fur and black ears and paws remained where he was. He leaned over the back of the bus seat in front of him with an annoyed expression on his face. "Can't we just get out of here?" he inquired impatiently. "It's not going to kill you to leave your eyes they way they are." The toon cat looked at him with her paws on her hips, tapping her foot indignantly. "If you think I'm going to--" "I found it!!" a boy fox in a loose green-blue button up shirt announced in triumph. He stepped into the isle, examining the small contact he held in his paw. "Ewe, but I don't think you want it." "Oh, just give it to me." the girl toon replied, holding her paw out for the soiled contact. "I'll just have to go clean it in the bathroom." "Cool! Now we can go!" a girl fox near the back cried with elation. Buster's eyes bugged out of their sockets as he saw the bus load of stampeding toons racing towards him. He turned and scrambled out of the bus, tripping on the last step and falling flat on his face. The rest of the toons ran excitedly over him, impaling him further into the sidewalk before disappearing inside the Looniversity. Buster moaned as he rolled over on his back and massaged his aching head. He opened his eyes and saw an orange cat looking down at him. She was dressed in a baggy green t-shirt and loose jeans with the ends of the pant legs rolled up over her large furry feet. An old worn blue ball cap sat backwards on her head. The only way that Buster could even tell that this toon was female was that her voice was feminine when she spoke. "Are you okay?' she asked as she leaned down to look at him. "Yeah, I think so." Buster replied. "I'm sorry about those guys." the orange cat continued. "But we were on that bus for a long time." "Yeah. For some of us, sitting still for fifteen minutes is an awful hard thing to do." a new voice snickered. Buster turned his head and saw the boy toon with the brownish red fur from the bus. He wore a jean jacket over a white t-shirt and blue jeans rolled up in the same fashion as his companion. He was crouched next to Buster with a crooked grin on his face. "And as you can see, we don't have much luck at making good first impressions." he added. "Here, let me help you up." the orange cat offered her paw to him. Buster was slightly hesitant as he took her paw and let her help him to his feet. "Well, see ya later." the girl cat called as she and her friend walked away. Buster dusted himself off as he watched them head towards to school. But he was surprised when they kept walked past the steps that led up to the Looniversity. The blue rabbit wondered where they would have gone if Bugs hadn't appeared at the top of the steps. "Hey you two!" Bugs called to the wayward toons. "School's up dis way." The two stopped at looked up at Bugs and then at each other. They finally shrugged, deciding they would go to school after all, since it was the first day and all. They turned and calmly walked up the stairs and into the school. "So what are they like?' Babs asked Buster and she and the others approached him. "I don't know." Buster shrugged. "They seem okay, I guess." "They don't belong here." Montana Max said again. "And I'm going to personally make sure their stay here isn't a pleasant one." He chuckled evilly to himself. "How do you do that?" Babs suddenly asked. Monty stopped laughing. "Do what?" "Appear all dark and ominously like that." Max shrugged. "Eh, it's a villain thing." And with that, he disappeared into the shadows. "Hmm, I gotta try that some time. " Babs said to herself. "Later Babsy." Buster said as the first bell rang. "We've got to get to class." The group of toons ran into the ever changing school, each wondering what was waiting for them inside. Robby Racoon wandered aimlessly through the crowded halls. He closely studied his new schedule as he made his way around the many other students, occasionally bumping into a toon here or there as he went. This new school was like a maze to him and he was having a very difficult time locating his first class. The numbering on the doors made no sense. And that map giving to him by that weird green guy with the pink umbrella on his head was no help at all. Robby frowned when he heard the bell ring. The last thing we wanted was to be late to class on the very first day of school. Deciding he had better ask someone for directions, Robby looked up and blinked in surprise at the completely empty hall which was over flowing with toons only a second ago. "Great." he muttered as he continued down the hall. It was so quiet now. Robby blanched as his red sneakers squeaked on the clean tile floor. The noise echoed through the empty, silent hall; coming back to him twice as loud and unnerving. Robby hated noise. Noise brought attention to him. He dreaded the thought of his squeaking shoes causing everyone to look out of their doors. He could just picture all of them staring at him with unblinking, accusing eyes. By then, it was only by some miraculous circumstance that Robby happened upon the right door. He turned the knob and timidly stepped inside where the class was already seated quietly in their desks while the teacher took the role. But when the door closed behind the young raccoon, the teacher stopped and looked straight at him. Robby gulped. The teacher was a huge, white rooster; one of the largest toons he had ever seen. Robby fidgeted uneasily under the teacher's piercing glare. "What are you doing in here late boy?" Foghorn Leghorn boomed in his old southern accent. "Maybe he's trying to cut class." Fowlmouth sniggered in the corner. "No. I-I couldn't find--" Robby tried to explain. "Of course you couldn't son!" Foghorn interrupted loudly. "You can't do anything without an education! And to get an education, you've got, I say, you've got to come to school! Are you listening to me boy?" "Wh--" "How do you expect to learn anything if you're sluffing in the hall or hiding in the bathroom?! You can't!! I say it can't be done! What ever made you think you could pass school without coming to class? That's a load of hogwash if ever I've heard it!" "I-it is a load of hogwash, sir." Robby replied in a timid voice. "What?!?" Foghorn fumed. "Are you saying I'm full of hogwash?!? That school isn't important?! Where do you get off with that attitude you little trouble maker?! You are the worse, I repeat, the worst student I have ever had!" "But I..." "Don't talk back to me you little hooligan! Detention for you mister, I say, detention!!!" "Detention?" Robby squeaked. He couldn't believe what was happening. He had always been the perfect student. What did he do wrong? Near the back of the room, Babs watched sympathetically as Foghorn wrote up the bewildered raccoon. She knew that wasn't fair. Maybe she should say something...... "Hey you big jerk! That's not fair!!" Babs perked up her ears at the indignant new voice. In the last row, one seat behind her and to the left, sat the orange cat with the blue ball cap Babs recognized as one of the toons who was talking with Buster earlier. "Yeah! What's the deal?!" exclaimed the brown and black furred toon behind Babs. "He didn't even do anything yet!" Foghorn glared hard at the two irate toons at the back of his class. "That's it! Detention for all three of you hoodlums!!" he bellowed and begin writing up detention slips with a vengeance. "Yes!" the two condemned toons cheered as they exchanged high fours. "That's better." the boy toon nodded in approval. Babs turned around to give an incredulous look to the brown and black toon who now had his feet propped up on his desk. "Are you insane?!" she admonished. "He just gave both of you detention too!" "Yeah!" the girl cat nodded enthusiastically. "It's a tradition." the boy toon explained. "You always have to get detention on the first day of school. Somehow the year just doesn't seem to start off right without it." "And we just beat our old record by one whole period!" his female friend added excitedly. Babs looked at them in disbelief and shook her head. These new students were weird, even by her standards. But they did seem to be nice enough despite their peculiarities. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to try and make friends. "At any rate, I'm Babs, Babs Bunny." she introduced herself to the boy toon behind her. The black eared animal took his feet off the desk so he could lean closer to her. "Nice to meet you Babs. I'm James, James Bond." Babs blinked in uncertainty at the unexpected, yet familiar name. "You mean like that guy from the movie?" "What to you mean that guy'?" he asked indignantly."That was my movie. Didn't you recognize me?" he flashed her a suave smile and straightened an invisible tie. "Rrrriiiight." Babs rolled her eyes. "I'm really a secret agent too." James' went on. "See this pen? It's a light saber, laser, and toothpick all in one." "Oh brother." Babs decided now was as good a time as any to turn around and face the front of the class again. But as soon as she did, her eyes went wide at the small red laser light that flitted around on the chalkboard on the front wall. She turned back to the assumed secret agent who was playing with his toy pen laser. "I told you." he said proudly. "Woo, I'm scared now." Babs said sarcastically. "Hey!" James defended. "Don't make me cut you with my toothpick. It'll give you splinters like no body's business." Babs chuckled. At least this strange toon had a sense of humor. She began entertaining a thought about doing some of her spin changes which would really impress Mr. Bond. But that idea was completely forgotten when she saw the look on Foghorn's face. "Uh oh." James said when he noticed the large rooster standing directly in front of him. His pen laser was still on and the red dot was now shining right in the middle of the teacher's forehead. The young toon quickly shut it off with a sheepish laugh. "Okay you two," Foghorn said as he slammed detention slips on the two student's desks. "Get down there now!" "Okay, okay. Don't get your shorts in a twist." James said, oblivious to the fact his teacher wasn't wearing any. He stuffed the detention slip into his pocket before Babs could see what his real name was and walked with a slight guilty aire to the front of the room. The girl cat followed behind casually, indifferent to the whole situation. "I don't believe this." Robby choked as he looked at his detention slip as if it were his death warrant. James Bond leaned casually on the grey raccoon's shoulder and grinned at him. "First time in detention, eh Roberta? Don't worry. It won't kill you." But Robby looked more like a death roe convict as he was lead out the door. With the three toons gone, the class resumed as normal. Funny, no one ever seemed to notice when the trio of wayward toons never bothered to return to class. "So Shirlee, what does vous sink of ze new students?" Fifi asked as she stood by Shirley's locker, books in hand. "I don't know Fifi." Shirley responded as he fished a notebook out of her locker and then closed it. "I, like, haven't really had a chance to talk to any of them. One shouldn't judge a person until one has been able to get acquainted with them and , like, totally get to know their comic energy er some junk." The girls started down the hall to their next class. "What about you?" Shirley then asked. Fifi frowned. "Oye, I ave not been able to meet any of zem yet." As she said this, they turned the corner and Fifi collided with something furry, but still quite solid. She was so surprised she dropped the papers and books she was carrying and they scattered on the floor. Fifi just stood there, blinking in surprise at the boy toon fox in the green-blue button up shirt who look at her in equal bewilderment. "Oh my gosh! I'm sorry." he quickly apologized and hurriedly crouched down to retrieve the fallen items. Fifi didn't move as she just watched him in wonderment. Behind him stood a girl fox who looked like his feminine duplicate, only her orange fur was darker than his and she was wearing a purple dress. "Good going Russle." she snickered. Russle only grinned sheepishly as he handed Fifi back her things. "Sorry about that." he apologized again before continuing down the hall with his paws stuffed deep in his pockets. "I swear Russle, you are the world's biggest clutz." the girl fox said as they left. "Oh, be quiet Stacy. No one asked you." Russle was heard to retort before the duo of foxes faded into the thick sea of toons mingling down the halls. "Well, they weren't that bad." Shirley commented. "I could sense, like, good karma from them and junk. What did you think Fifi?" Silence. "Fifi?" She turned to her friend to see the female skunk gazing dreamily down the hall. "Oo la la. I sink I ave just found my reason for living." Fifi swooned as she hugged her books. Shirley rolled her eyes. She had heard that one before. Shaking her head, the blonde loon dragged a stary-eyed Fifi to their next class. The bell rang for lunch and the cafeteria instantly filled up with eager, hungry toons. Trudy Lion was no different from the rest. She was starving from an already exhausting first day of school as she avidly waited in line with the rest of the toons. After her tray was filled with viscous substances and other unidentifiably colored lumps, the yellow furred toon looked for her friends. Most of the other new students at Acme Loo were settled on a table near the back wall which was choicely situated away from the other tables. Trudy started towards them, but she didn't get far when a foot seemingly shot out of nowhere, causing her to stumble over it. She was able to regain her balance before she fell on her face and looked back quizzically for the unprovoked attacker. The room was full of toons and she could not see a single one who looked as though they had it in for her. She shrugged and turned to continue. But then someone walked behind her and shouldered her roughly, causing her to almost drop her tray. "Hello! Excuse you!" Trudy retorted irritatedly as she turned to face who was harassing her. But again, she could see no one she could put the blame on. Utterly perplexed, Trudy took a cautious step forward, glancing around in all directions and trying to apprehend the next attack. Some peas shot out from an unseen source and nailed her in the back of the head. "Hey!" Trudy spun in all directions, her angry, wild eyes daring her aggressors to show themselves. But she didn't see anyone who was even noticing her, let alone some estranged villain who was out to get her. Trudy took another tentative step forward and this time, was able to duck as a barrage of cooked carrots flew at her. Still unable to tell who was aiming at her, Trudy panicked. Deciding her only chance was to reach the sanctity of her friend's table, the young lion shot off through the cafeteria. She dashed passed toons and around tables in a blind flurry, all the while dodging the mass of flying food and milk cartons that seemed to steadily increase in intensity as she fled. But the assault ceased as suddenly as it started as Trudy reached the table, panting and tired. She slung her tray heavily on the table top, which miraculously still contained the whole meal. Trudy scrambled tiredly onto the bench and looked up in exhausted triumph. "I made it! I---" Her smile instantly disappeared as her jaw dropped in disbelief. The only ones sitting at the table were a green duck in a white tank top and a pig in blue overalls. Behind them, Trudy could see her friends still sitting at the table near the back wall, much farther away now then when she had started. "Oh man." Trudy moaned as she let her forehead drop none too gently on the table. Plucky looked over at Hampton who was idly sipping his milk through a straw. They both shrugged at each other and turned their attention back to the girl toon. Trudy picked up her head and sighed. "Oh well. I guess I'm eating here today." She looked at the duck and pig. "You guys don't mind, do you?" "Sure." Hampton said politely. "It's a free cafeteria." Plucky replied. "Thanks." Trudy smiled. "My name's Trudy. I'm one of the new students." "Plucky Duck." Plucky nodded professionally. "And this is Hampton." He added by whispering to the young lion. "He's a bit on the slow side, but a nice kid." "Nice to meet you both." Trudy replied. She then turned her attention to her tray. Picking up her spoon, she poked experimentally at a greyish lump in one corner. "What is this stuff?" "Don't know." Plucky admitted. "My advice to you, take a sack lunch from now on." "I think I'll do that." Trudy replied when the greyish lump snatched her spoon from her paw and flung in across the room. "Hi Plucky. Hey Hammy." Buster greeted as he and Babs walked up with their lunches. The blue bunny took a seat next to Hampton while Babs sat across from him, leaving a space between her and the red haired lion. "Babs, Buster, this is Trudy. She's one of the new students." Hampton introduced. "Hi." Both bunnies said in unison. Buster instantly recognized her as the urgent toon from the bus that morning. He studied her miss-matched eyes to see that they were both now blue, about the same color as Babs' eyes. "Hey," Trudy nodded casually in reply. She recognized Buster from that morning, too. "How are we doing?" She took a quick, flirtive glance behind her as she asked. "Oh, pretty good." Babs replied. "But, you know, the first day of school is always a drag." "Tell me about it." Trudy agree as she glimpsed about her again. "Uh....what are you doing?" the girl bunny asked curiously. "Well," Trudy said as she surveyed the room once more. "Have you ever had the feeling someone's out to get you?" "Oh sure." Babs confirmed. "All the time. Like my fourth hour teacher. He wants to flunk me, I can see it in his eyes!" "No, not like that." T rudy argued, her voice getting lower. "It's just when I got in the cafeteria, someone tried to trip me and then someone shoved me. But I couldn't tell who they were. And then this whole hoard of food came flying after me and I had to totally run for my life! Didn't you guys see any of it?" The four toons looked at her blankly. Hampton took a noisy sip of his milk. "Well it happened." she insisted. She leaned forward and whispered into the group. "And now it feels like someone's after me. Like I'm being followed and watched where ever I go. It's kind of creepy to think that at any time he could just sneak up behind me and--" "Hey Trudy." "DAHH!" the girl lion jumped four feet in the air at the unexpected tap on her shoulder. She landed back in her chair and glared heatedly at the one who caught her by surprise. Babs knew who this toon was. It was her friend from first hour, the notorious James Bond. "Heeeyyyy." James said as he wiggled his fingers at her in an odd sort of wave. The furry toon has a glass sized tub of mint chocolate chip ice cream in one hand and a metal spoon dangled from the corner of his mouth. "Sheesh! Give me a heart attack!!" Trudy exclaimed as she clutched at her chest. She took a few deep breaths to calm herself. "What do you want anyway?" James removed the spoon from his mouth and stuck it into his ice cream. "Stacy wants to know why you're not sitting with us." "Because there's someone out to get me, that's why!" Trudy whispered harshly as she once again looked nervously around the room. "I'm lucky I even made it to here!" James laughed. "Like who? What horribly evil essence could possibly be after you in this place?" As he said that, two thin, yet incredibly strong arms grabbed him from behind. "Hey!" James cried in surprise and protest. "Ewwe! A fuzzy tail fluffy head for me to cuddle!" Elmira squealed as she clutched her prize. "I'm going to take you home and hug you and pet you and keep you for my very own!" James' eyes bugged out in shock as if they decided the rent was too high and they were moving out. "Woa-ho-hoa lady! You can't take me home! That's illegal! I don't care what the cops say, I'm still a minor! You can't do that!" But Elmira seemed oblivious to all that was screamed at her and showed no sign of letting go. She only had the brown and black toon securely around his waist, leaving his arms to flounder about as he tried to squirm out of her grasp. He pulled the spoon out of his ice cream, finding it his only weapon of defense. "Back off you sicko!" James threatened. "Or I'll-- I'll spoon ya, you freaking lunatic!" Babs and Buster watched the one sided struggle offhandedly. "Should we help him?" Buster asked. Babs thought a moment. "Eh, he's a fairly nice kid. I think we should do something." Buster nodded and the two bunnies quickly came up with a plan. "Hey Elmira," Buster said, tapping her on the shoulder to get her attention. "Don't look now, but there's a small, helpless baby squirrel over there that you could easily crush to death with your bear hands." Elmira's dark, unintelligent eyes brightened at the notion. "Oo, really? Where?" She glanced around eagerly for her would be victim. While her attention was turned, Babs pulled out an Acme Inflate-A- Date' which was precariously dressed like the infamous Mr. Bond and quickly switched the two. James was safely hidden under the table when Elmira turned back disappointedly to the balloon dummy in her arms. "Oh pooh. No squirley whirley." she hugger her supposed fuzzy tail fluffy head'. "At least I still have you." She squeezed it tighter. A popping sound came from the dummy and with a hiss, it deflated instantly in her arms. "Aww." Elmira sniffed sadly at the reminants of her Inflate-A-Date. "My cuddly wuddly is broken. Oh well, maybe I can still catch that squirrley!" She dashed off, not giving the deflated dummy another thought. "Is she gone?" James asked as he peeked out from under the table. "Coast is clear." Buster said brightly. "Whew!" James crawled out, stood up, and straitened his jacket. "Talk about invasion of your personal space! It's a good thing you guys came in when you did or I would have had to get mean." He shoved his spoon moodily back inside his mouth to emphasize his point. "Like stabbing her with your toothpick pen James?" Babs asked playfully. Trudy looked at her quizzically. "James?" "Yeah, that's me." James hastily broke in. "My name's James Bond, right Trude?" He winked at her anxiously to get his point across. Trudy just smirked and brought her paws up into the form of a W'. "Sheah! Whatever Marty!" "Marty?!" Babs demanded. "But you said your name was James." "Yeah well." Trudy said sarcastically. "He also says the Germans are going to launch the first chocolate rocket into space, but that doesn't mean it's true." "Nark." Marty glowered at her. "I am not!" Trudy defended angrily. "And you're just a lying jerk wad!" "OH YEAH!?" Marty yelled louder. "WELL I HATE YOU!!!" "SO?!? I HATE YOU TOO!!!" "Want some of my ice cream?" "Sure." Trudy picked up her fork and dipped it into the mint chocolate chip mixture as it was offered. The four Tiny Toons blinks bewilderedly at the new student's unexpected mood changes, then decided to get on with their own lunches. "Hey, what's the story over here?" asked the orange toon cat as she walked up to them, addressing Marty and Trudy. "I just saw some psycho chick attack you and then you're screaming over here. What's going on?" She looked expectantly at Marty for answers. "Well Mr. Bond?" "Gag's over." Marty explained. "Trudy ratted me out." "Nark." the orange cat accused. "I am not!" "So you're real name is Marty?" Babs asked, just to make sure. "Yup. Marty Marten, in the fur. And this is my very good friend Tanya Tiger." he said, pulling on the orange cat's sleeve to make her step closer. "She's a little weirdo, you can tell by the clothes. But we all like her anyway." "Look whose talking, Mr. Double Zero Seven." Tanya snorted, putting extra emphasis on the word zero'. "Oh, and by the way," Marty added. "These two are cousins, though neither of them are willing to admit it to themselves or others." "Shut up!" Both cats exclaimed as Tanya knocked him in the back of the skull and Trudy dumped the remanent of her mostly melted ice cream on his head. But despite the attack, the marten kept smiling as if the last laugh would always be his. "You know Marty," Babs pipped up after a while. "I really didn't believe that story about you being James Bond. Not for a minute." "Oh?" Marty asked, not looking up as he licked his paws and tried to clean up the ice cream that oozed between his ears. "Why's that?" Babs smiled as he took the bait. "Because you play him so badly. It's more like this." Babs jumped onto the table top and spun so fast she was nothing but a blur. The room suddenly went black. The James Bond theme song began to play out of nowhere along with the sound of guns and ricocheting bullets in the background. A bright spotlight fell on the pink bunny who had stopped spinning and was now decked out in a black tux with slicked back hair and a gun shaped carrot in her paw. "The name is Bond, James Bond." she said in a deep, professional voice. She spun once again in the same fashion and the cafeteria returned to normal. Babs hopped back into her seat, dressed in her usual attire and grinning proudly. "Show off." Plucky muttered, unimpressed. The three new toons just stared blankly at her. Marty finally blinked when mint chocolate chip dripped into his eye. "How did you do that?" Trudy marveled. "Why did you do that?" Tanya asked, scrunching her nose as if it were the most distasteful thing she had ever seen. Now it was the Tiny Toon's turn to blink in disbelief. "You don't know how to do spin changes?" Babs asked. "Duh!" Came Marty's most intelligent reply. "If we knew how to do it, we wouldn't have to go to school!" On the far end of the cafeteria, near the back wall was a table slightly situated from the rest of the tables in the room. On the once full lunch table sat only Stacy Fox, Robby Raccoon, and Stacy's twin brother Russle. Stacy gazed across the room irritatedly. It seemed the other half of their group had left them for better times with new friends. "What's up with this?" the foxette wanted to know. "First, one by one they all leave. Oh Stacy, we'll be right back.' But do they come back? Nooooooo! And then someone decides they want to have some deranged light show. This place is so weird!" "I'll say." Russle said as he was hit in the head with a piece of food for about the twelfth time that lunch period. He noticed Robby was also getting beaned with flying projectiles. But as far as he could see, there was not a single soul around who looked guilty or mean enough to fit the crime. "Have you ever had the feeling someone's been after you since we got here?" "Not really." Stacy replied offhandedly. "Yes!" Robby exclaimed, looking a bit more irked than his timid demeanor usually allowed him. "They've got some crusty teachers in this school! They're all out to get me, I swear they are!" Russle rolled his eyes. "You got two lousy hours of detention Robby. Two. Geez, you act like the world is coming to an end." "But my parents will kill me for this." Robby groaned as he hid his head in his arms. "Sheesh." Russle shook his head and leaned his cheek on his paw. Another pea flew out of nowhere and hit the young fox between the eyes. "Hey!" Russle cried as he rubbed the sore spot on his forehead. "I'm telling you Stacy, there's someone out there trying to give us a bad time." "Yeah right Russ." Stacy snorted. "You are so paranoid. There is nothing wrong with--" She was cut off as a clump of oozy substance hit her in the chest and dribbled down her new purple dress. Stacy let out a startled cry of indignation as she helplessly watched the blob seep down her front. Then her large, dark eyes shrank into angry slits and her mouth turned down into a maddening sneer. Her dark orange face grew deeper red as the anger bubbled up inside her. She shook like a volcanic earthquake until she exploded. "THAT'S IT!! I HAVE HAD IT!!!!" The female fox screamed as she jumped self-righteously onto the table top. All heads instantly turned in her direction. "I don't know what everyone's problem is, but I'm sick of you blaming it on us!!!" Stacy fumed "We didn't cancel your stupid show and we didn't ask to come to your dumb ol school!! I don't see where you jerks get off pining this on us! And--and we have problems to, you know!!! Like.....LIKE THIS!!!" Stacy picked up her tray full of cafeteria food. "What is this?! This can't be food!!" she tipped her tray upside-down. The whole meal stuck except for one blob that dripped slightly from the tray with the spoon still stuck to it. "Are you guys trying to poison us or what?!? See? We don't need any crap from you! Any questions???" She glared defiantly at the student body. "YES!" Three toons instantly piped up. Stacy whirled around to see who dared to challenge her fury. Marty, Tanya and Trudy looked disapprovingly at her from across the room. "Are you done yet?" Tanya demanded. Stacy blinked and all her hostility and anger evaporated in an instant. "Yeah." She said meekly as she climbed down from the table and sat self-consciously back into her chair. The student body then went back to their usual as if nothing had happened. "Hmm, she looks pretty good when she's angry." Plucky commented, eying the fox femme as she sat down. "Yeah well, I think we'd better go back over there now." Trudy said quietly while Marty and Tanya nodded. The Tiny Toons muttered their good-byes and the three newbies slinked off to their table at the far end of the cafeteria and the rest of the lunch hour proceeded as usual. The seventh hour rolled around at Acme Loo and the whole student body filed into the gym instead of going to their last classes of the day. It was the annual pep assembly and all the students knew what was going on when they took their seats. The university cheer leaders, including Babs, Shirley, and Fifi, were waiting by the doors in their white and blue uniforms and going over the cheers in their heads which they would use as part of the program to elevate and excite the school spirit of the congregation. As all the toons noisily found their seats and were now boisterously chatting with one another, Daffy Duck picked up the mic and attempted to quiet them down so the program could resume. "Alright students." He spat, but no one seemed to pay him any heed. "Alright students." He said a bit louder this time but with still the same results. The black duck seethed in frustration at the lack of progress. "EVERYBODY SHADDDDUUPPP!!!!!" The young toons stopped and looked at him for a moment. A few blinked and then they all started where they left off in their conversations. "Why those little....." Daffy growled trough his teeth as he went through the action of rolling up his sleeve. "I'll handle dis, Daffy." Bugs said calmly as he took the mic from the disgruntled duck. "Okay kids, listen up." All eyes instantly fell on him and the room went quiet. "Typical." Daffy grumbled as he went off to sulk. "Alright everybody." Bugs began. "I know you've all hoid about da changes dat are going on in dis place and some of you are worried about it. But poisonally, I tink this year will be just as great as any other we've had-- if not better. So let's start out by giving a warm welcome to our new students." The toons began to applaud their welcome, but ceased just as quickly when they looked over at the section of bleachers that were reserved for the new students. Only one lone raccoon sat quietly among the empty seats. Robby froze in the deathly silent room when he realized all eyes were on him. He shrank back in a pitiful attempt to hide his meek existence from them. "Oh brother." Bugs groaned to himself as he covered his eyes with a gloved paw. This year promised to be a very long one. "It sure was nice of them to let us out an hour early today." Russle said as he and the rest of his friends walked home, the Looniversity getting farther and farther away at their backs. "Yeah." Marty agreed. "I wonder what they do at those pep assemblies anyway." "Don't know." Tanya replied. "I never bothered to go to any of them." "Me neither." Trudy added. "That reminds me." Marty suddenly grabbed the young lion's head and buried his knuckles in her scalp. "This is for narking me out at lunch today." "Ouch! Hey! Lemme go!" Trudy cried as she scrambled out of his grip. "My hair!" She instantly tried to smooth it down and straiten her red pony tail. "Hey Trudy." Stacy asked. "Do you think we should try out for cheerleading this year?" "We could." the yellow cat shrugged. "But then we'd have to go to all the pep assemblies." "Oh yeah, right. Never mind then." *Fade and close. Roll end credits. Buster and Babs pop out of the Tiny Toons logo and say......* Buster: "Remember kids, old toons never die." Babs: "We just appear in fan fics." *Bunnies exit scene* Da ta da da da ta da da, da da da The End
